Re: Please help test grub2

Will test it now, glad to see grub2 will finally be default
EDIT: The instructions say to install grub2 which will set it up in parallel to grub-legacy but apt is saying it needs to remove grub to install grub2

A 3-year old Dell latitude works also without problems.
Due to the lack of real issues, we may resort to discussing and ranting about how grub2 should be themed

Re: Please help test grub2

Grub2 depends on grub-pc which replaces grub, so that's ok (I guess ).

EDIT: All went fine, also detected and added my arch and foresight installs (something grub-legacy has never done)

Re: Please help test grub2

failed miserbably on my gigabyte ga-m55plus-s3g MOBO desktop (multiboot) , didn't find all of my installs, only added karmic to the menu ,won't boot, file not found error ,booted live cd , found that grub2 had written the wrong uuid for my karmic install , copied the correct boot stanza from my backup menu.lst, won't chainload but atleast I can get back into karmic . continuing to troubleshoot .

edit : copied correct uuid to the chainloader line and now it chainloads , seems slower that the old grub and even thoug it found ( the installer said it did) 2 of my other 3 installs it did not add them to the boot list .
