    Gparted with Ipod

    hello im trying to partition my ipod in Gparted but when i plug my ipod in Gparted is saying that i only have 6.99g of unalocated memory when in fact the ipod is formated to fat32 and has 27.9gb of free space. any idea on why Gparted isnt showing all the space?

    the ipod is a 30gb 5GEN video.

    any help would be great. thanks!

    An iPod cannot handle a partitioned drive.
    There is an easy way, and a hard way to do things.
    If you're anything like me, you've tried to do things things the hard way,

    yes, it can. but thats not the point.

    but i dont want to partition it. i just want to delete the primary partition and create a new unformatted (RAW) partition. i cannot do this in disk management in windows.

    this worked fine in gparted with my 30gb photo but not my video.

    I'm trying to partition my 2nd gen nano 4Gb and I also cannot use gparted as it refuses to deal with the 2048-byte sectors.

    I started out using cfdisk but it doesn't seem to write it correctly either.


    How does a person partition a device that has 2048-byte sectors?
