Question CrossLoop equivalent on Ubuntu?

A while back when my sister needed help with her XP machine, I used CrossLoop to easily gain access to her desktop. No need for port forwarding or any other fuss. We just both ran the CrossLoop client and it established a connection for us.

I recently converted my mum to Ubuntu and I would love something similar that would allow me to connect from her desktop from my Ubuntu desktop.

Please note that anything requiring router configuration on her end just won't happen. We're on opposite sides of the world and she is not going to be able to configure the router even with my assistance.

Does anyone know of something like CrossLoop for Ubuntu?

Thanks,
Kent

http://www.tightvnc.com/index.html

it's not the best latency-wise but it's one of the most popular.
Also, latency shouldn't be a problem unless you're using it on a LAN since your internet speed will be the lowest common denominator.

Re: CrossLoop equivalent on Ubuntu?

Thanks, but doesn't that require exactly the kind of router configuration that I need to avoid?

sorry, you're right. if the remote computer is not accessible from outside it needs a router configuration.

It looks like you may be able to install it with WINE: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=912947

Yes, but that's if you want to remote from Ubuntu to Windows. I want Ubuntu to Ubuntu support.

Best,
Kent
