Update (03/Oct/09): The Humanity theme has now reached version 1.0! The theme consists of a GTK (buttons and widgets) theme, and three Metacity window border themes (Glow, Glass and Smooth - see attached screenshots).
Please note: the Humanity GTK theme will be identical to the final Human GTK theme, which is the default theme used by Ubuntu. However, the updated Metacity window borders may not be included in the default Human theme, due to time constraints and the Beta Freeze. I have submitted a proposal to Canonical to make a freeze exception, but of course, there is no guarantee that they will be accepted.
Hi,
Since I began work on Human-Murrine-Mod (which later became the official Human-Murrine, and finally Human theme), I felt somewhat limited by the Murrine engine's features. However, more recent versions of the Murrine engine have brought new features and opportunities, and have allowed me to get closer to my original vision for this theme.
Providing no bugs or problems are discovered, this should be considered the final version. Enjoy, and any feedback is appreciated!
Note: Although I have contacted Kenneth Wimer (Ubuntu's art lead) to inform him of this update, I have no idea if he'll be interested in considering it for Karmic as an update for the official theme. Therefore, I have provisionally renamed this theme "Humanity".
To install: Open GNOME's Appearance Preferences and click the Install button.
Warning: This will install the theme into the user's account only, which means that applications with root privileges will not be themed correctly. This is not a bug - if you wish all applications to be themed, move the Humanity* folders from the ~/.themes folder to the /usr/share/themes folder, like so:
Code:$ sudo mv ~/.themes/Humanity* /usr/share/themes/
Bugs (affecting theme, not caused by theme):
