    I never said that.
I just have no problem with the laptop, why should I upgrade?
Sorry, I have one issue. I cannot write CD, but I have the same issue on my desktop, so it is not BIOS relevant

Thank you for the reply. Now I ask to the users who have my same laptop and tried different BIOS: which is the best one?

No one knows really and there are no release notes for the BIOSes either. Maybe acer's call wall (center) knows. Certain BIOSes fix certain bugs presumably.

Hi everyone. I just got the following reply from ACER Germany. It looks like they are at least willing to pass it on to the respective department. We'll see what they can or will do about it.

    Best, felix

BTW: 3 weeks is a pretty long time to answer a service request. Anyway I am pleased with the result (if any).

We will process your request to our team for software development and
Programming the BIOS type. Unfortunately, at this stage not

Hey, I'm having a trouble trying to get my machine to boot from an SD card. I've tried two different types and they are not working. I think it stopped working when I updated my BIOS to 1.17. Is it safe to downgrade to 1.15?

I don't think so. 1.15 was only on the acer site for a short period and replaced with 1.17 in only 2 or 3 days. I think it's safer to downgrade to BIOS 1.10.

Hmm ... just checked. 1.15 is listed with the other BIOSes again. I'd swear they had removed it.

So is it safe to downgrade?
The BIOS options in 1.17 look different than 1.15 too.

Edit: Hmm, it seems the bios updating utility won't let me downgrade. Now what am I supposed to do for linux?

    Re: Acer Timeline 3810T

I tried a whole bunch of buttons to bring up the boot from device menu but I don't think 1.17 has it. I tried all the function keys and the del, esc key, they just dont work.

    This is quite annoying.

Edit: Okay, I found that you have to enable the F12 boot menu in the BIOS settings. I opened the boot menu, and the SD card doesn't show up. I think 1.17 disabled the ability to boot from an SD card.
