I'm building a computer (going to be using 9.04)and need advice for the components. My main concern is making sure they all are compatible and will work with each other, especially the CPU & Motherbaord. Speed and memory is important, and it's not going to be used too much for gaming.
Here's what I have allready. Case: (Apevia X-Cruiser ATX Mid Tower Case) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=A107-1050
OS: Ubuntu 9.04
Hard Drive: Western Digital SATA 320 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB Cach
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 6200
I'm not sure what to get for CPU & Motherboard. I'm trying to decide between Intel Core 2 duo or Core 2 quad. Is this MB good given the price of 52? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ription=13-128 What about this deal? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.189819 Or what about this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.189605
Power Supply: I'm thinking 500 watts. Would that be enough?
Fans: The case comes with 2 80mm LED fans, and has room for two more. Do I really need 2 more?
RAM: Would 4 GB be good? Which brand would I get?
CD Drive: Not sure if I should use the one from my current Gateway computer or buy a new one? If so, whats a good brand?
Thanks for your help and advice on this.
