    1366 x 768 screen resolution

I've been looking at a laptop for a while, but the only downside is this very strange screen resolution (1366x768).

Just wondering if anyone's had any experience with monitors of this resolution. I don't want to get it if I will have too much trouble getting it working proporly under ubuntu.

Also, I kind of want to play games on it, such as Quake 4, Quake Wars, UT and others. Will I be able to run them at this resolution (assuming the video card can perform well enough, it's a 9300m) or will it scale to a different res?

Just try first - you could come to the shop and boot off your Ubuntu live-cd.

I suppose Ubuntu could do its job well in this strange resolution.

I have an HP DV6 laptop with this resolution.

I don't really like it, but I tolerate it

I havent played any games under it on Linux, but I have on Win Vista. Whilst the resolution is not ideal, one gets used to it.

It's OK for watching d/l 'ed movies, mind you

    I'll just keep looking then.

I have about £430 looking for a core 2 laptop, with >2gb RAM and preferably a semi-decent graphics card. Don't need an os to come with it though which should bring down the price a bit.

Oh hey, turns out it worked perfectly in 9.04 after installing video card drivers.

On the 9.10 alpha, this crazy resolution worked right out of the box!

    Sorry I couldn't respond sooner
