Lost internet after Ubuntu crashed while updating

Ubuntu crashed while updating itself last week and I haven't been able to to connect to the Internet since (although the Internet still works in WinXP so I don't think it's a hardware problem).

I tried booting into recovery mode, but that didn't do anything. Recovery mode can't connect to the Internet either. I tried booting into older versions of Ubuntu too, they can't connect either.

I tried "sudo dpkg --configure -a" too, at the advice of someone in a chatroom, and it produced no output so I presume there are no packages waiting to be installed.

Nevermind. It seems to have mysteriously fixed itself of its own accord.
