I posted this in a 'solved' thread so many won't look at it. I really need some assistance with this so would appreciate it greatly if many of you would chime in.

"Ok guys-

I've used a program called OpenCPN for navigation on my boat. Previous to installing Ubuntu, I used SeaClear on Windows.

I use a GT3731 gps puck which worked perfectly in the windows environment but I can't find a way to get ubuntu to recognize and pass the gps data along to OpenCPN.

Please understand that while I have a lot of computer experience, I'm pretty new to ubuntu so will need some very specific, clear suggestions written especially for a newbie.

I'll be very grateful if someone can point me in the right direction so that I can get gps position into the navigation program.

With my thanks,

Mike Robinson"
