Is your video/graphics card compatible with ubuntu?

    ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????
I've seen many threads about video card compatibility issues and wondered "What video cards have proved themselves to work good in ubuntu?". So if you'd like, take a few minutes to enter your graphics card model(Ati, Nvidia, etc...), computer model(gateway, hp, etc...) linux version(Ubuntu, Kubuntu, etc...), Game/Program that works good with it, and/or if there is anything else you'd like to add that I left out. It should make a very helpful list of hardware/software that have least worked before on some systems.

    Thanks!

Graphics Card: Ati Rage 128 Pro.
    Computer: Gateway E series, Pentium4HT 3.20GHZ, 1GB RAM.
    Linux: Ubuntu 8.10.
Works okay with regular tasks but doesn't play games very well so far. Advanced visual effects don't work.

Dual GPU ATI 4850 fully works with latest Catalyst from ATI, nvidia 8400GS runs fine with latest nvidia 180.42 from nvidia site. Intel G31 PC runs good with uxa enabled in xorg.

ATI Radeon x1550 (128 MB on board video ram)
Compaq Presario AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 3GB ram
    Ubuntu 9.04
Open source drivers: Compiz works, videos play, Hulu plays, DVDs play

Worked well with Ubuntu 8.10 too using open source drivers

    Graphics Card: Nvidia 8800 GT
    Computer: Asus p5k, 4GB OCZ RAM, Q6600 @ 3.2 GHz
    Linux: Mythbuntu 9.04
Driver: 180 from Ubuntu restricted driver list.
Works great. Wine is kind of iffy. Some games run at 60 fps or higher and other games (with similar minimum requirements) run at ~20 FPS (like Left 4 Dead).

    Using a Lenovo T60, running Ubuntu 8.10.

    From "lshw":

    *-display
    description: VGA compatible controller
    product: Radeon Mobility X1400
    vendor: ATI Technologies Inc
    physical id: 0
    bus info: pci@0000:01:00.0
    version: 00
    width: 32 bits
    clock: 33MHz
    capabilities: bus_master cap_list
    configuration: driver=fglrx_pci latency=0 module=fglrx

Compiz works well. Xine works well.

However -- I can only use xshm for the video driver in Xine. For some reason, no other xvideo driver selection works. (In fact -- any help here would be greatly appreciated!)

Video: nVidia GeForce 6200 AGP w/256 MB on board.
    Computer: MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 1GB RAM
    OS: Ubuntu 9.04

The system runs great. I don't use Wine anymore because it was not always stable for me. I don't really need it anyway. I love my Linux.

The only intensive 3D game I've run is OpenArena, which runs very well.

The only issue I've never been able to resolve is getting my DViCo FusionHDTV card to work with anything other than tvtime.

My Nvidia 8400GS and on board Nvidia 6100LE both worked out of the box.

Re: Is your video/graphics card compatible with ubuntu?

    Lenovo ThinkPad T60
    Intel® Core™2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz × 2
    Gallium 0.4 on ATI RV515
    2GB RAM
    Ubuntu 11.10

Advanced visual effects do not work, ubuntu games all work (OPENARENA to and it's
    good enough for me)
and i'm not complaining maybe later the drivers
wil work better or i'll find a way to make them work.

    Not really a gamer
