Can I turn my Thinkpad into a Smackpad?

I have a thinkpad T60 and I just heard that it should be possible to turn it into a smackpad smiler to a Apple slapbook

So I'm wondering if I can do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aetH_aRxdGE with my Thinkpad T60? If I can how?

    Thanks
    Dan

    Hey!
I know you wrote this a year ago but I'm also trying to figure this out. Where you able to install the smackpad compiz plugin?

You would need to activate your accelerometer first:

Accelerometer is on. I have hdaps running and the gnome panel is there, my disk parks fine.

I installed the compiz plugins as per http://www.eugen-feller.de/?p=12 and I have the plugin under compiz settings manager, but enabling makes no difference...

I have a t43p. I haven't played with hdaps and I'm still running Jaunty, but it's on my list of things to play with.

Perhaps you don't have the correct orientation of the accelerometer. It's my impression that you have to experiment with the configuration until you get some response. Also, try some games (you will have to search for them) to see if you have accelerometer control.

    Have you tried hdap-utils?

Re: Can I turn my Thinkpad into a Smackpad?

How is the performance with Neverball? I read that it was laggy, and basically not useable.

So if you have the correct orientation, then the compiz plug-in for desktop switching is not working. The post that you referenced was from Mar 2007, so it's kind of out of date. Perhaps you could send an email to the maintainer of that plug-in and see if there have been updates.

Re: Can I turn my Thinkpad into a Smackpad?

It is a bit laggy with neverball but not unusable. I tried to figure out if sensitivity could be adjusted but couldn't find it. IT can be adjusted for mouse...

I did sent an email to the plugin developer... he basically said he hasn't verified if it works with latest versions of compiz and that he has no time at the moment to look after it.
