Hello,

I posted another thread about this issue yesterday, but as I have determined that the orginal question I asked wasn't the right one to solve the problem (and therefor the thread title was not right anymmore) I decided to start over and rephrase.

When my usb webcam (Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks) is inserted, I get an beeping sound on the microphone channel of my soundcard (which is used for my headset, with normal mini-jack plugs).

The webcam has it's own microphone as well. I muted that channel, but it makes no difference. After muting one channel after another I'm sure that the sound is only present on my headset microphone channel. If I mute that, it's gone. I've done extensive experiments using the gnome-volume-mixer, but the sound stays there.

It's not a continuous sound but a very fast repeating beep (like 5-10 times per second). This is very annoying as it's transmitted via skype as well.

Anyone any ideas on this? What I can do do eliminate the sound?

I'm using Xubuntu Hardy by the way

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Martijn
