Question Attempting to install Canoscan lide 90 driver with WINE

I just tried installing the windows driver for Canoscan lide 90, using WINE. It all worked fine up to a point, where I got this message (see attachment). Is there another driver that could be removed or disabled tat might allow the Canoscan driver to be installed. If so, how would I find it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Wine is not intended to handle hardware directly. You only can use it to "translate" software operations from windows api to linux.

Maybe your only chice could be to use it tru Virtual box. Check this thread:

Cool Re: Attempting to install Canoscan lide 90 driver with WINE

I suspected as much, but the way it opened that .exe file and went several steps into the installation, and then telling me something specific, that I already had a newer driver installed, really got my hopes up. Thnaks for the link. I think virtualbox might be a little more problem than I want to get into. I can keep using my scanner on my old windows machine, and wait for someone to come up with a driver for it eventually.
