many of us have sadly discover that from Juanty the Amarok 1.4 player is not available as upstream to install (due to the fact that is not developed anymore by Amarok Team); in substitution we get Amarok 2 that have in common with Amarok 1.4 only the name.
How can this happen?
Fortunately a PPA repository is available to install Amarok 1.4 in Jaunty; a big, big thanks to Bogdan Butnaru that make this possible.
Amarok and the other one cannot coexist together, so in order to use Amarok we have to remove Amarok 2. Here the steps:
Edit your APT sources:
Add at the end of the file the following lines and save it:Code:sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list
Add the signature for the repository:Code:# amarok 1.4 deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
Install Amarok:Code:sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com AE74AE63
Done!Code:sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get remove amarok && sudo apt-get install amarok14
