Question Brightness control adjustment Intrepid 8.10 on x61s

Hi, i have been trying to fix this problem for a little while. I have a lenovo think pad x61s. I recently installed ubuntu Intrepid Ibex again after trying kubuntu and xubuntu. Anyway, My problem is the brightness control:

I have fixed the problem on Fn key control, i can use the Fn keys to adjust the brightness meter, the brightness meter responds and moves, but the brightness doesn't change.

In Power management i can change the screen brightness bar but the brightness of the actual screen has no change.

So basically it seems that the brightness of my screen is not connected to the controls in ubuntu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am also very interested in getting to know Ubuntu more deeply, how it works and basic computer programming for that matter.

    Cheers
