Thumbs down Drupal, Typo3, Diogenes installed from repository, no files in /var/www

I have installed Drupal6, Typo3 and Diogenes from repository on my desktop Jaunty to try them.
As far as I know after typing http://localhost/xxxxx I should get to the installation/config page. I only get a 404 message with URL/xxxxx not found.
Also the /var/www directory is empty.
Where are they? How do I make them work?

    Hello There!

    Nobody knows, or nobody bothers?
I'm a human being asking for your help geeks.

Remember? This is a distro for human beings.
Which means people who expect to find things
where they sopposedly belong, or find some
directions in the doc files. Nothing there
    either.

What now? Should I quit Linux as some of those
arrogant asses suggest, who KNOW THE SECRET OF
THE CODE? Should I also quit with the Linux
Club that I run for the people in my village
free of charge? Should I also stop testing
    and bug reporting, translating documentation
    and other community work?

Are human beings really equal members of this
community? Or only if they don't get upset?
