8600GT in Kubuntu 9.04

Ok, so here's the deal. Whenever I try to install my Nvidia 8600GT, the installation goes fine- it downloads the driver and asks for a reboot. Now, when I reboot, I get no GUI and am dumped into a text-terminal interface. Is there a specific way to install the nvidia drivers other that using the proprietary hardware drivers manager?

BTW: This problem would also occur in Kubuntu 8.10.

I fixed it. I used the 180.51 drivers and installed them manually. If anyone is having problems with their nvidia card, I strongly suggest trying out the 180.51 drivers.
