    Hi.

Is this still about Jaunty? If so, here goes......

Roughly 35 clean installs, each one cleanly wiping off one Windows-install

This was done on anything from Celeron 600 with 256 MB of RAM and 20 GB hard drive to AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+ with 2 GB RAM and 500 GB hard drive. ATI, Nvidia and Intel graphics, on-board, AGP and PCI-Express (even one PCI!), on-board and PCI sound and LAN etc etc etc, you name it - i did it.

EVERY SINGLE ONE WENT WITHOUT A GLITCH.

The worst problems encountered were "no sound" (actually sound was there but i had to find it, it was a Dolby-something sound card and i had to play with the settings to make the sound worm it's way to the right connector) and a boot splash that has too high a resolution which the (15" LCD) monitor can't handle, the actual desktop is fine though.

I even ran (just yesterday evening and just for a test!) Jaunty from the Live-CD on my boyfriend's laptop and got it online - wireless! In no time as a matter of fact - booted, found network, entered network key and was online. Now if it wasn't for his bluddy games i could install it there.....

I know Karmic is out but i will stick to Jaunty for fresh installs - because it works and i love it. And i get more people to love it

    Kind regards.....

    Thanh

It was flawless until it came to gaming, but that problem was fixable.

Question Re: Share with the community your Jaunty Jackalope install/upgrade experience

    Hmmm...

I'm still running Ibex on a Thinkpad T22 with 512MB of RAM, so I'm not sure if this machine will fare well if bumped up to Jaunty.
