I hate to say it but Linux has never had a great "image" or at least not a very hip one especially when compared to Apple. I plan to help change this though.
My first jab at this was... the Gimp Flower Look
also I can't help but admidt one of the main things that drew me too Ubuntu was its nice a proffesional marketing look and well designed logo.
Until Linux gets better hardware support we should work on making it better and not more popular.
