I have the exactly same problem. In windows, gtalk functions OK. On Ubuntu, pidgin just keeps showing the same message. I've tried all the configurations I've seen on the net, but somehow none of the worked.
Has anyone found a solution? If there's not a solution, then how can I chat with gtalk without using GTalk and wine?
