    No sound with Jaunty on Dell Inspiron 1420. Otherwise, nice looks, quick booting, and quite stable.

    RC worked way better for me. no ubiquity crash at the end and did not need safe graphics mode. First seamlessly smooth install in a year.
    PMs will be ignored.

    How big an SD card? How did the installation go? Did you retry the installation?

    I've not heard of that kind of problem elsewhere so I suspect there is something wrong with your install rather than an inherent problem between your Eee and Jaunty.

    FWIW, Jaunty RC runs pretty well on my Eee PC 901 though not without quirks.

    @darkstaar, nystire: It looks like the bug was fixed in 8.04 by a patch that turned Greedy migration on by default. Since then the default has been in, out, in, out, shake it all about...

    So - can you try adding
    Code:
    Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy"
    to the "Device" section of your xorg.conf and see if it fixes it for you?

    If so then I think I know where the regression has come from...

    odd, sound is fine for me on a 1420. You might want to noodle around a bit.
