    Convert h/x.264 to xvid ?

How can I convert h.264 or x.264 videos to xvid in ubuntu?
Preferably in a quick/simple command-line call, and preferably with multi-core support.

Try ffmpeg or winff which is a version of ffmpeg with a GUI to use - believe me it is much easier with the GUI. Look here for more info.

    Thanks bumanie,

And it even has an option to output the commandline code required to run from terminal/shell.

Now to figure out if 2-pass is necessary or not?

i haven't found 2 passes to be worth much, but the quality parameter is important.

    Where's that?
I don't see that in WinFF

WinFF seems to do the trick, however I never can figure out when to encode using widescreen or not... How can I tell if it's better to encode in widescreen or default (fullscreen) ?
