HELP: Make our own Distribution?

Hi.
Me and a buddy want to create our own GNU / Linux distribution, and we need help to make it from the start.
Do you have any tips that can get us started?

I prefer a good answer as fast as possible, so we can get started right away.

I don't know how much you know about Linux, but the real geeks make a distribution from "Linux from scratch".
If you want something Debian like, you could try "debian from scratch".
Otherwise, you can simply remaster an Ubuntu cd.

Do you want to make your own distribution, with its own repositories, or do you simply want to make a custom variant of Ubuntu (or some other distribution)? You can do the latter by simply remastering the LiveCD and perhaps offering a few custom deb packages (such as for a custom interface) on a website or Launchpad PPA.
