I'm surprised nobody has mentioned "links2".
If you run it with "links2 -g", you get the "graphical mode" with a menubar, images and tables; and yes there is a little bit of Javascript support, just enough to use this site (I think).
Even better, you can run the graphical mode without X running; should save you a bit of memory
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
