I've been up and down these forums all day, trying everything I can to the best of my ability, but I simply CANNOT get this card working with the nvidia drivers.

I'm running Xubuntu 8.04 Hardy on an older AMD Duron 800MHz machine. I can get the card to run with the "nv" free drivers. Trying to load the nvidia drivers results in nothing but a black screen after the Xubuntu splash screen. No activity I can detect at all. I have to reboot and do an xfix at the Recovery menu to get the nv driver back.

I've tried 96, 173, 177 and 180 with the same effects.

This last time trying starcannon's instructions, I can't even get xfix to bring it back.

Has ANYONE got this thing working in a setup like mine? I'm totally lost at this point.
