Make a USB drive appear as an external CD-ROM

is there a way i could change my thumbdrive so it appears as an External CD-RW to the computer?

I'm trying to install software from a Live CD to a thumbdrive, but the program apparently looks to a CD-ROM for it's files. I can't just copy the files to the thumbdrive because when i run the program it looks for it's files on CD.

Normally I would set the bios to boot from the usb. The usb should have a .img file afaik.

that works to boot off of the drive, but the program I'm using apparently looks to the systems CD-ROM to find itself. simply booting off the USB works but it says it has a major error

Simply use unetbootin or the usb-creator that comes in 8.10
