"Vast Spy System Loots Computers in 103 Countries "

Has anyone read this very recent article in the NYTimes?

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/29/te...y.html?_r=1&hp

    According to the article...

"has infiltrated at least 1,295 computers in 103 countries, including many belonging to embassies, foreign ministries and other government offices, as well as the Dalai Lama’s Tibetan exile centers in India, Brussels, London and New York"

    and...

"Infection happens two ways. In one method, a user’s clicking on a document attached to an e-mail message lets the system covertly install software deep in the target operating system. Alternatively, a user clicks on a Web link in an e-mail message and is taken directly to a “poisoned” Web site."

What proportion of these 1295 infected computers do you think are windows machines?

Whether or not the Chinese government is behind this operation it is silly to believe that governments both east and west in general would refrain from using the internet as an espionage vector.

It doesn't shock me in the slightest. I would have been more surprised if it wasn't going on.

    Ah so...
Have you ever found something in the second-to-last place you looked?
If it seems like I am ignoring you, perhaps I am.
