Sound not working

I moved to a new system and rebuilt the platform from scratch. Running 2.6.24-23-server and have alsa and pulseaudio installed. Output from the alsa-error.sh text can be seen here: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=45...06339ce7676927

Have tried all the different alsa and other sound forums and cannot find anything wrong (have tried to rebuild, reinstall and otherwise tried everything suggested).

Any ideas?

After trying for about 4 hours, unsuccessfully, found reference to this being a bug in ubuntu 8.10 current release (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/297744). Assume it is in 8.04 and so I finally just installed an old soundblaster card and got it working that way.

If I ever fix it (I also found reference that the VIA82xx will be part of the 26 kernel release), I will update this thread.
