Bitnami stack for Joomla 1.5.9 HERE (go to Stacks/Linux 57.2 MB)

You do not have to screw around with ANY Apache, MySql, PHP OR Joomla settings. Answer 5 VERY simple questions and away you go!

Uninstall any previous apache,mysql,php,,etc.

1) Change permissions on the BitNami file you downloaded
2) RENAME the file AND DELETE the .bin extension
3) Run the renamed file, you can just double-click if you are using a file browser
4) Answer the simple questions
5) Your Web Browser will open - Click the link near the top of the page
6) WAIT it takes a minute to set up the database
7) PRESTO Apache, MySql, PHP, your database and Joomla are all working

NOTE: If you are using Ubuntu 64 bit you MAY have to install ia32-libs for the above steps to work.

NOTE: 1) Bookmark your Joomal website when it pops up (this is your Front End).
2) In the address bar ADD administrator to the end of the address; it should look like this http://127.0.1.1:8080/joomla/administrator, go to this page
3) Enter the username and password you used in step 4 - Bookmark this page too (This is your Back End)
