    why was this closed/manage?

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1095552

I just hope this isn't about suppressing a disappointment to canonical of what they didn't do.

aren't the loco not allowed to discuss these things?

It's spam disguised as something Ubuntu related.
If you're in doubt if it's a spammer or not - check the persons joining date and how many posts he/she/bot made is also considered + the content of the post(s).

    Re: why was this closed/manage?

if i remember correctly, the user involve is not a spammer, he introduced himself as a student in Tagalog in the introductory thread in the Philippine loco forum.

the site in question http://ubuntu-ph.org is in fact the Philippine loco team's official website see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoTeamList

the intent of the poster was to notify or discussed the loco team's website and its current status, in which we were fully aware btw. in the discussion we were joined by jsgotangco (Jerome Gotangco) a former ubuntu community council member.

we were discussing how canonical, specifically the RT is snail slow on processing a very long time request to restore the loco team's website and so that's how the discussion goes. this, to my opinion a legitimate topic which need not closing.

The use of the Ubuntu name is a matter for Canonical , not Ubuntu Forums

I don't understand. the domain is practically owned by Canonical.

    Re: why was this closed/manage?

ok, let me add some more overview about the thread.

the thread was posted by a user named Napzter, not a good handle as it is spammy / p2p in nature, then posted a thread titled "Hey guys, Look at our website", again, identifiable as spam. i can see why a staff or admin identified this as a spam.

but if you look at the content of the thread. it isn't spam, like I said ubuntu-ph.org is the official loco website for the Philippine team, owned and blessed by Canonical.

The thread is a concern about the state of the site now full of ads, this isn't about an unauthorized used of the ubuntu name or trademark either.

I get what you are saying.

Where was the post originally? I'll reopen it and move it back with a note the next time I am online. If Napzter contacts me or posts here, I'll reverse the infraction as well.

    Re: why was this closed/manage?

I have moved the thread back and I chose to reverse the infraction the original poster received when we thought the post/thread was spam now, instead of making him contact me.

    Sorry for the confusion.
