The Colour Green On My Screen

Hi Guys, I am running 8.04 Ubuntu, have been for 6 or 7 months now.

I would like to play a movie , had a few problems playing vobs, but after a visit and a read on the forums, managed to get the codec VLC player, however all the skin tones are a green, the colour seems to be off,
Anyone tell me how to correct this.
In general workings, colour is fine.

I have kept my OS fully updated, what is the benefit to installing 8.10.

    Thanx a million

This is a bug with this version, if I recall correctly. I think its fixed by adjusting one of the parameters for video balance, might be the gamma correction. I think upgrading will fix, have you enabled backports on your system, this may bring in a correction as well.

Can't you just use the buttons on the monitor to adjust the color settings?

Backports are a set of repositories which can be enabled through synaptic. They contains applications which have been updated/fixed for later versions of Ubuntu. Some testing is done for earlier versions so they should work. I have not had trouble using them.
