You might need to compile the latest wireless driver for the chipset. I believe those things use a RaLink chipset - try the terminal command "sudo lspci" or "sudo lsusb" to find out for sure. If you can find the project that creates the drivers for those wireless chipsets, then you can download and compile the latest version which should hopefully fix the problem.
I try to treat the cause, not the symptom. I avoid the terminal in instructions, unless it's easier or necessary. My instructions will work within the Ubuntu system, instead of breaking or subverting it. Those are the three guarantees to the helpee.
