I'd probably file a bug report.
I do not use Ubuntu any more, nor have I ever used Gnome. Therefore, I tend to give advice that is distro- and DE-agnostic, which, while perhaps not the easiest way, will allow you to move freely between machines.

Hmm... it's not a bug that it's not in the repos... what would filing a bug report accomplish?

It brings it to the attention of the developers quickly.

Re: Suggesting Software to Add to Official Repos

    Hi Rabidmonkey1,

I've been using Celtx 1.0 and have downloaded Celtx 2.0 to upgrade. I tend to forget the terminal steps to install apps. - because it's not something I do often. My existing version of Celtx is at: /usr/local/celtx/celtx

I have an Application Launcher - generic - for the app. on my toolbar and some scripts in progress in Celtx. How do I upgrade?

I've done a bit a search and the existing threads talk about right clicking and choosing where to extract to. My right click option gives me an 'Extract here' option but no others. What have I done to deserve this?

Seems Terminal upgrade would avoid this 'Extract here' which leaves me with a nice looking folder on my desktop but no idea how to get it into /usr/local/ and no idea how to protect the setups I have already, my launcher, my existing scripts.

Yes, I am the eternal Absolute Beginner - returning to square one with each new challenge.

    Help appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Simon

Re: Suggesting Software to Add to Official Repos

I have read this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...ighlight=celtx

and receive a very similar outcome using
    sudo tar zxf /home/simon/Desktop/Celtx.tar.bz2
    i.e.
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
    tar: Child returned status 1
