Scanner Epson Perfection 3490 Photo
Hi All,
this evening I have been able to set-up xsane to manage my scanner Epson Perfection 3490 Photo. Sorry if I'm not very precise, but I'm a novice of Linux Some detail: the scanner has hinted by sane-find-scanner, see below the output: # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer. # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that # you have loaded a SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter. # Also you need support for SCSI Generic (sg) in your operating system. # If using Linux, try "modprobe sg". found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x0122 [EPSON Scanner]) at libusb:001:002 # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage. # Not checking for parallel port scanners. # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports # can't be detected by this program. # You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you # found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as # necessary. So the scanner has been found, but this is not enough. Then looking in internet I found that my scanner is supported by snapscan http://snapscan.sourceforge.net/ Then I followed the instructions and: - in the file /etc/sane.d/snapscan.conf I added the lines: # Epson Perfection 3490 usb 0x04b8 0x0122 - I changed the permissions for the files in /proc/bus/usb/001/ to enable read/writing for group and other That's all, now xsane detect the scanner and it works fine. I hope that this will help other people. Best regards Elia Freddi PS: my pc is a Dell Latitude C600 |
