cruzer mini troubles

okay so I go to the website and it claims cruzer mini 256mb isn't a u3 compatible usb. but I still can only see 170 mb's of this thing....however all I needed was 162 to install an arch linux usb installer....so I did that....but then I got curious and went onto a windows XP OS and tried to reformat it to get the full 256 mb....but im still stuck with 170mb being read on ubuntu....I can't use gparted to reformat, it doesn't give me the option to do so

it does give me the option to create a partition table that would clear all the data...you think that would work?

tried downloading something from sandisks website that was supposed to reinstall cruzerlock (the encyption program that isn't u3) back on it, but it didn't do anything

if you want to format and reclaim your cruzer drive, try reading

the mkfs has variants like mkfs.vfat to create specific file systems.

and you should get your Cruzer Lock application installer at http://apac.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1274

hmm their site says its not a u3 software inside the cruzer mini, I'll try reinstalling the cruzer lock 2.0 and then seeing if it has an uninstall feature (which i dont remember there being one) when I can get my hands on a windows xp system

okay after trying to install the cruzerlock installation .exe on a windows environment...it couldn't find the flash drive to install it into....please I don't wana waste 10$ on another flashdrive when I could use this one if I can take cruzerlock off of it....I can't even see the cruzerlock stuff when I plug it in, but there is about 80mb of inaccessible memory that I want to utilize

thanks for help in advance....none of those wiki's helped and the u3 one didn't seem to have anything to do with cruzerlock according to sandisks website cruzerlock isn't u3 software or w/e
