Question Will an Emerald theme work in Gnome?

I'm a total noob at this. I installed Jaunty Beta 4 last night and then decided to download some themes from gnome-look.org and kde-look.org.

I downloaded the Emerald manager and some Emerald themes, created a folder in my documents folder, unzipped the packages into their own folders, transferred them into Emerald....now what?

System>>Preferences>>Emerald Theme Manager brings up the Themer with the 5 themes that I downloaded...but how do I pick one and get it to take effect?

Do I need to be running Kubuntu 9.04(b4) instead of Ubuntu 9.04(b4) ??

You need to make sure you are running Compiz, then run alt+f2 and "emerald --replace".

You have to do what smartboyathome said, also if you want the emerald theme to be there every time you turn your computer you need to add the "emerald --replace" command
to System-Preferences-Sessions. At least thats how i do it.

I'm thinking I might try Ultimate Edition 2.0 along with Compiz...anybody here have any experience with that?

It won't give you much advantage. It is just Ubuntu with more preinstalled (everything installed can be installed manually now for you). I would just recommend staying with Ubuntu.

Just a note to say that Sessions has been renamed to Startup Applications in Jaunty
