Thanks a lot guys . It's working! compiz works fine. I followed ultix's guide and it worked.I don't know why it did not work the first 4 times I tried.
Maybe we should build an ubuntu image for nc20 .

1) from directory with new xorg.conf: 'sudo cp ./xorg.conf /etc/X11'
2) Possible you don't have installed kernel headers. To install: 'apt-get install linux-headers-generic'
Anyone know if the official driver is added to the Ubuntu 10.10 Beta?
First, apologies for being new to linux. I cannot find a 'hal' directory inside the 'etc' directory in my file system. Searching for hal brings up 2 folders, one in usr/lib, one in usr/share. I think I'm logged in as root but I don't know how to use sudo. Thought maybe someone could take 10 seconds to help me out rather than me spend another several hours trying to figure it out for myself... Thanks.
Hi,
Some weeks ago i started to get problems with sound on my Nc20, when i start up the computer sound is gone, and alsa tells me that it can't find my soundcard. When i reinstall alsa and alsa-utils it finds my soundcard and it worked fine for some days. But now again when i booted up my nc20 i got no sound.
Anyone got any ideas or got the same problems? Running 10.04.
Edit: Alsaconf fins my soundcard, but when i try to use alsamixer i get: Cannot open mixer

Hallo Tom,
in the past I used your VIA_driver until kernelversion 2.6.33.
Now Iam using kernel 2.6.36-rc5-23 and the latest
xorg version on an Opensuse system.
Can you modify your driver to this kernelversion and xorg version?
Kind regards
Uli
