There has been a few questions about this lately, so thot i'd make a how to and maybe help a few people out. this is for if ur HDMI doesnt fit the TV or HDMI doesnt seem to work right.

this is for nvidia graphics... as i have only used nvidia, its the only 1 i know... if you get it working on others, let me know and i'll add it in...

1st of all... open up "additional drivers", and install the nvidia driver... this should also install "nvidia xserver settings". then restart.

then on your tv... thats right the tv itself.. open up the TV menu while on the HDMI channel... this is the fun part as all tvs are different I cant tell you were to go... on LG tvs its called "per-pixel scan", think its called "just scan" on sony and on mine (technika) its called "HDMi PC full mode". so look for something like that and activate it...

on sony and LG it does the trick...(apparently) on mine it didn't quite... was better, but still not perfect. so then you open up your "nvidia xserver settings" then look for a slider bar called "overscan compensation" in mine its in the sub menu "DFP-0 (cPATh)" but yours may differ.... simply slide that along until your screen fits.. mine is best at about 6, but yours may vary...
