Question Unreal tournament 2004 shows only a blank screen

    Hello,
I just installed UT04 on my Ubuntu 9.04. I had one heck of a time doing so, but it's fine now. I went to run it, and the opening graphic shows, then my whole screen goes black, but I can still hear the game. I've read a ton of posts about changing the resolution, but when I try to change my resolution from 1280x800, it wont let me. It's the only option. I've also seen people saying it's because they are running Ubutnu 32bit on a 64bit architecture. I am also. I didn't have a 64bit CD, and I didn't think it mattered. Does it? I'll post my xorg.conf for you down at the bottom. Thanks for any help.

EDIT: I have an Acer Aspire 5100, and an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100.

ANOTHER EDIT: Desktop effects were working perfectly fine for me. I had compiz running and everything. Things are no longer working. (I turned effects off when I was working.) I think I need a graphics driver... I haven't found anything though.

    Code:
    # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # Note that some configuration settings that could be done previously
    # in this file, now are automatically configured by the server and settings
    # here are ignored.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

    Section "Device"
    	Identifier	"Configured Video Device"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
    	Identifier	"Configured Monitor"
    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
    	Identifier	"Default Screen"
    	Monitor "Configured Monitor"
    	Device "Configured Video Device"
    EndSection
Some have told me to add some stuff. So I tried this too:

    Code:
    # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # Note that some configuration settings that could be done previously
    # in this file, now are automatically configured by the server and settings
    # here are ignored.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

    Section "Device"
    	Identifier	"Configured Video Device"
    EndSection

    Section "Monitor"
    	Identifier	"Configured Monitor"
    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
    	Identifier	"Default Screen"
    	Monitor "Configured Monitor"
    	Device "Configured Video Device"
        SubSection "Display"
            Depth 1
            Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
            Depth 4
            Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
            Depth 8
            Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
            Depth 15
            Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
            Depth 16
            Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
            Depth 24
            Modes "1280x1024" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
        EndSubSection

    EndSection
    Thanks again

Alright, I reinstalled Ubuntu. this time I put on 64 bit. UT04 runs, but it's extremely slow. So slow that I can't click anything n the menu, because when I move my mouse, it is literally 3 seconds before it moves. Any ideas? Everything else runs fine.
