Unhappy USB 2.0 PC card - Device Manager sees it, BUT...

...it's not working.

I'm using a Dell Latitude CsX that I'm trying to bring into a USB 2.0 world. The card is a generic no-name using an ALI chip. I'm running Breezy.

Everything shows up great in the Device manager: USB 1.1 controller and bus, USB 2.2 controller and bus, the FireWire (it's a combo card). The only thing I can't do is actually use it!

Tried printing... no dice. Tried scanning... doesn't recognize it. I'm actually AFRAID to plug my iPod shuffle into this thing.

All help is appreciated!

Dave

Everything I have read about Ali chips says there is almost no support for them in Linux. If you canb return your card or get another, look for something with a better supported chip, such as NEC or VIA. I would google around for linux support before you buy another card.

Take a look at these:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815124011 (NEC chip)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16839101111 (supported by Linux in specs)
