audio driver question when upgrading 6.06 to 8.04

6.06 LTS never found my audio device which I didn't care about until now. I'm wondering if I upgrade to 8.04 will it autodetect the hardware?

The audio chipset is Realtek ALC883 and it's on a motherboard with a Nvidia Geforce 6100 chipset.

Try a Live CD and find out.

Ok, that works there is sound with the live CD. Is it reasonable then to expect there will be when I do an upgrade?
