New 5.1 audio card via Digital optical not that loud - how do I max computer sound?

Alright i just installed a turtle beach 5.1 card that I have hooked up via a digital optical cable and playing through iTunes in XP Pro.

But I have all of the volume controls that I know of iTunes, system bar in the bottom left, maxed and it still is not that loud... what else can I adjust to make the volume much louder, like it is supposed to be?

It's through external speakers, right? Also, is it a realtek card?

    What do you think?

I know when I played just cds in my sony it pumped almost twice as loud.

although this digital optical sound does have something "different" to it.

its not as loud, but does sound better.

but I still want to slam it loud for parties and stuff. (or my own personal enjoyment)
