I'm running Ubuntu 7.10, Gutsy Gibbon.
I was running Firefox when suddenly my entire computer froze. I ended up having to do a hard reboot, and as soon as it hit the loading screen--where the Ubuntu logo shows up and the bar starts filling--it shut down again. This happened multiple times.
I went to bed, gave it about eight hours, then tried again. Still didn't work. Opened the case and half-cleaned it out--it was extremely dusty. Finally, booted up, but was loading extremely, extremely slowly.
Installed lm-sensors and get this readout:
Code:
coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +59°C (high = +100°C)
coretemp-isa-0001
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 1: +59°C (high = +100°C)
So the temperature seems to be running normally . . . Was it overheating? Is there some kind of run-down I should do to check out my hardware health? What do you recommend?
