    AMD Processors?

Any chance of offering AMD for CPU options?

Am i the only one who'd really rather not have to buy Intel?

Update: P.S. What about ATI graphics for laptops as well?

We've offered them before. I'm sure we'll offer them again at some point. There have been a number of people ask that, so the powers-that-be are certainly aware that there is an interest in it.

I agree with the OP, I'd rather support AMD than be forced to buy Intel.

Why would one choose AMD over intel. I don't really know anything
about this so just want to get an idea.

    Thanks

Here is an interesting article on the debate: AMD vs. Intel.

Both have proven to be very open source friendly.

That's from 2007, hasn't AMD proved to be much more open-source friendly than Intel since then?

I'm especially put off by Intel's push for EFI...And here's why i think EFI is a huge problem: http://pinstack.blogspot.com/2009/01...g-freedom.html

Linus calls it "this other Intel brain-damage (the first one being ACPI)"

Also, what about ATI graphics for your laptops as well? I believe ATI is much more open source friendly than nvidia
