I may be mistaken so take this with a grain of salt. It is my understanding that the OS and all software are contained on your harddrive. When you access your OS/software it is read on the drive then transferred to your RAM. Like I said I may be incorrect but I think you should not have to reinstall your OS. Let us know what happens.
