Great news! Especially now that Debian Lenny comes with LXDE, it's time for an LXDE Ubuntu, too.![]()
Can't you just start with the minimal Ubuntu install and install LXDE over top of that? That's what I do for Xfce (Xubuntu sucks).
Yes you can, but I assume if it ever becomes an "official" Canonical project, it will have the human theme and other Ubuntu branding instead of the blue default LXDE appearance. And there should be a lubuntu-desktop package with LXDE, the themes, and a lightweight application suite. In other words, it will be heavier and browner than minimal install+LXDE.![]()
just as i use the debian lenny LXDE + openbox image i would of course also start using a ubuntu LXDE installer cd if there was one. so this is indeed very good news.![]()

I'd love it if something like this came to be - it'd certainly help out LXDE development, and maybe it'd even spur development on "smaller" apps to go with it.
Desktop: AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Dualcore 2.61GHz, 2GB DDR, 40GB HDD, 120GB HDD, Win7 32-bit
Laptop: Thinkpad T61 - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.00GHz, 4GB DDR2, 500GB HDD, Win7 32-bit/Lubuntu 12.04.2 32-bit (PAE enabled)
Are there any LXDE default distros out there that are up-to-date.
I think the latest Knoppix is on LXDE by default. I wonder how Knoppix is doing though.
