    Internet connection without WiFi

Has anybody tried using a sim card in his laptop thus not requiring a WiFi connection? Does this really work?

I don't see why it wouldn't if the hardware is recognized by Linux.

I use a Sierra Wireless AirCard 860 in Ubuntu 8.10 that is on the AT&T 3G network. Works wonderfully even when I'm not near any Wifi spots.
