People are always scared about new unknown things. Just like when they said that it's the earth spinning around the sun and not the other way around...

    Not really.

I think Hollywood contributed a lot as to why people are afraid of cloning.

Most of it is total BS.

Unfortunately, it was not an intrepid ibex, but a defect ibex, but still, this is one huge acomplishment.
What is a defect ibex? I've not heard of that.

It did live seven minutes! According to the article, there is some knowledge we are still missing about either DNA or another attribute of life, but we should be able to figure that out, right?

The article mentions it might be possible to create a mammoth as well.
Now that would be cool, but I would rather have my own dragon
Is no one else here having Jurassic Park flashbacks with all this?
Have you ever found something in the second-to-last place you looked?

It would be rather stupid to clone a mammoth, because there's a reason it's extinct. With its thick fur, it would overheat very quickly and require special care.

Actually, its argued that overhunting and loss of habitat (due to heating of the earth) caused their extinction rather than their woolly coats.

Whilst overhunting/habitat loss may have caused its extinction, it would *still* be unsuited to the current climate. Unless it's in the deep freeze.

I'm unsuited to the temperature in Cyprus but I've still been there on holiday. Its all about adaptation.

A mammoth doesn't normally have clothes on he can replace with less thich ones, or undress. The beast has no artificial ways to change body temperature.

Still, I think someone should first find out why the cloned/created lifeforms have lung problems, (they say it might be because of errors in the DNA -> fix those errors), and then bring back a T-Rex!

I would love to make my own lifeform (it would be a dragon... or a talking chimera )

Perhaps human cloning/making wouldn't be that bad after all, we might just have to get used to it as a society. I am getting just as "lost in toughts" as my avatar

5 bonus points for however knows who he, ironically, is. (hint: lead character of a certain popular manga and anime series.)
