    Encoding to H.264

I am looking at encoding various files from mpeg1, mpeg2, TS to mp4 using x264. Are there are guides out there that i could follow to do this or GUI apps?

    I am using 8.04
    Thanks

Avidemux is a GUI aplication that can do this.
Also, x264 is an open source H.264 encoder, so you will be encoding H.264 video.

    Re: Encoding to H.264

I encode almost exclusively with x264 while using FFmpeg as the decoder. I wrote a tutorial on compiling, installing, and using the most recent svn FFmpeg and git x264:

HOWTO: Install and use the latest FFmpeg and x264

The major advantage of compiling it yourself is access to the libx264 presets which makes encoding much easier.
