    Looking for Quick Instant Message

I'm looking for some kind of IM client that would be solely used between networked computers in my house.

I have 4 computers all networked and there are often other users other than myself. Often, we are surfing the internet and we find links that we want to instantly share with each other, or just to send each other small notes.

I'm not looking for something internet based, just LAN based. Hopefully, it wouldn't even need a login. It would just run in the background.

    Any ideas?

You'll probably have problems finding something that does this...

but why cant you use a "normal" IM client?

Net-C, used it for a while at college w/ random people. Pretty sure it covers the major OSes too, so that wouldn't be an issues on what OSes your network machines are running.

Other options can be found here. Hope this helps. =]

can you send files across the lan with the Pidgin + avahi + bonjour configuration?
yep u can .. i pretty much used that for my work place before i deployed our internal jabber server.. its a no brainier really and just works. all you need to do is add a new account on pidgin and choose the bonjour protocol. do the same to other pcs in the on the same lan and both of u can see each other and even share files.. no login is needed .. it just works zero conf style
